HSBC appoints APAC family, philanthropy lead

HSBC Private Bank has appointed a regional head of family and philanthropy advisory Asia Pacific, effective September 29, joining from UBS.

Based in Hong Kong, Francesca Chan will report to Ann Ling, regional head of wealth planning and advisory, Asia Pacific.

Chan will lead the teams of family advisory and philanthropy advisory specialists across the Asia Pacific region, where she will be responsible for deepening client relationships and driving business growth through bespoke advisory solutions.

She will also be guiding ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients across multi-generational succession, family office setup, family governance establishment and strategic philanthropy.

Francesca brings nearly two decades of private wealth management experience. She is currently the executive director and senior family advisor at UBS and has spent over six years at the company.

At UBS, she advised UHNW families on intergenerational legacy planning and long-term stewardship, encompassing family office establishment, residency planning, and the design and implementation of governance frameworks in her current role, while also shaping family strategy, philanthropic vision and next-generation development.

Prior to UBS, Chan held roles at Deloitte Private, Noah Global Family Office and BNP Paribas. She began her career as an investment adviser with HSBC Securities in Canada.

Ling said Chan's appointment will further strengthen HSBC's commitment to delivering multidisciplinary, client-centric solutions to UHNW individuals and families.
